The landscape is inspired by the shield volcano on the planet Venus, Maat Mons. 

Fresh, dark lava flows extend for hundred kilometres across the fractured foreground. The name of the volcano originates from two words "Maat" and "Mons". 

"Maat", the ancient egyptian concept of harmony, balance, truth and justice was personified as a goddess Maat, often depicted with wings on each arm, or wearing an ostrich feather on her head. 

The second word "Mons" originates from the Latin term "mountain".

In this artwork, we investigate the relationships within the space.

We enhance the experience and perception of space within the concept of architecture and spatial design. Investigating architectural space we see it as aphenomenon that exists in the universe or anywhere where human perception can wander. We see space as a relationship between parts and humanperception. The artwork stems from an architectural research in depth developed around the idea of the Gestalt method. In application to architecturaldesign, ‘the main idea of Gestalt psychology states that the meaning of the whole can’t be reached by individual parts because of the dynamic and organicrelationships between the individual parts that integrate it.’ We believe this experience of space translates into many areas of human life.

This artwork is created through 3D hand sculpting and digital linear hand drawing techniques.
